This is the protagonist from the September storyline: Head scientist Xavier. He was killed in a coup planned by his own subordinates and the entrepeneurs because they disagreed with his ruling system and laws (in the city of Truthlost, the scientists are an important class). It was mostly because of revenge on Menteur's part. After Xavier died, his machines sensed his absence and either self-destructed or stopped working because they were biomachines with the capacity to feel remorse. No one else could move them while he was gone.

So Xavier got shot, his body was thrown into the river and the rebels and rejects of the city kept his body to revive him. If he lives, his machines will self activate and they can use his machines. (kinda sad reason to let him live). Xavier's reaction when he awoke was a mixture of angst, hatred, confusion, jubilation, and mostly hunger. Everyone facepalmed. Now Xavier wants his status and city back, he still loves the people in Truthlost though. 8DD
