The Descartes are the allies of the Rosencrat family. Back then, the Descartes family casinos were always raided on land. Frustrated, they decided to live at sea. Queen Voncaxia decided to let them stay in her country as a diplomatic gesture. Their living quarters was a floating casino, their origins were unknown, the people of Voncaxia said that most of the family members were exiles from Europe who were antique dealers and gamblers. The Descartes folk could summon skull-like beings called Descartiers. These were often the remains of their enemies or loved ones, they never bury the dead. Their skills were strangely compatible with the Rosencrats' shadow summons. Their enemies never keep large mirrors, for the Descartes people were also light and reflection manipulators and can travel through them, they were responsible for the gang slaughters in Voncaxia. Four main rival family leaders were killed as a favour for the Rosencrat family.
The current matriarch of the family is Chantalle Descartes aka wheelchair swindler. She was crippled by her business rivals, and she only forces herself to walk when she wants to hurt people. Like any good leader, she can summon epic shit to do her bidding, usually her happy casino skullboys. Her husband is a naval officer who used to patrol around Voncaxian waters, keeping the Scarpellis at bay. Henri Gallantine fought the 4th Scarpelli patriarch and lived to tell the tale. His shadow is a gift from Amon so that he can protect his wife. Chantalle's father made a pact with the Rosencrats so that they can destroy the Mahenzeratis and Scarpellis together. Chantalle is a very docile person, but she has a penchant to cheat and manipulate others out of habit, she'll do anything for her allies and the country. She's quite talkative, sometimes she puts Amon in a stupor with all her money talk lol. Henri and Chantalle are usually seen on the 5th floor, where the giant blackjack table is, they're gamblerfags too. merde.
